Laurie Penny: Bitch Doctrine

Join Laurie Penny as she reads from her new book, Bitch Doctrine: Essays for Dissenting Adults discusses staying hopeful in today’s world and how to bring about change, in a special in-conversation event with Sarah Shaffi.

An essential voice of our times, Laurie Penny’s writing has made her a touchstone for readers around the world, on issues ranging from Donald Trump’s presidency and the rise of the far right to online harassment and transgender rights.

She combines characteristic dark humour with a desire to contest injustice. As Caitlin Moran says, ‘I can’t really think of another writer who so consistently and bravely keeps thinking and talking and learning and trying to make the world better’.

Author of six books, Laurie Penny is also a contributing editor of New Statesman magazine, columnist for The Baffler, and writes for many others including The GuardianTime Magazine, Buzzfeed, The New York TimesVICE, Salon, The NationThe New Inquiry, and Medium.

The event is chaired by Sarah Shaffi, online editor at The Bookseller, co-founder of BAME in Publishing and writes about books for @StylistMagazine.
