Common

See the world premiere of DC Moore’s new play, directed by Jeremy Herrin (People, Places and Things, The Plough and the Stars) at the National Theatre this spring.

Set in the early days of the Industrial Revolution, the common land of England is under threat. An epic new history play stars Anne-Marie Duff as Mary – “the best liar, rogue, thief and faker in this whole septic isle”.

As the factory smoke of the industrial revolution belches out from the cities, Mary is swept up in the battle for her former home. The common land, belonging to all, is disappearing.

This dark and funny new play is an epic tale of unsavoury action and England’s lost land - contains strong language from the start.
