Top Party Tips from our South Bank Venues

For those of you who keep asking themselves: "how to organise a party?", our unique venues in South Bank share their top tips for Dos and Don’ts to ensure party success every time! (PS Your Christmas party may be over, but that doesn’t have to stop you thinking about what next year’s will be…)

  • London Marriott Hotel County Hall

    Must Do:
Provide an arrival with a difference, such as a bespoke welcome cocktail reflecting your company's brand

    Avoid:
Don't poison your guests! Check if they have any special dietary requirements such as gluten intolerance, vegan, or soya needs

  • Skylon

    Must Do:
Organise a photo booth; those party pictures will bring back nice memories all year round and they are perfect to hang in the office

    Avoid:
Going OTT with the theme, some guests may crack under the outfit choice pressure!

  • OXO2

    Must Do:
Christmas Crackers – everywhere! Put as many crackers out on tables/shelves any flat surface. They’re cheap, they’re festive and decorative, plus they’re interactive

    Avoid:
Playing the well-known Christmas tunes too early on, people will peak too early and by the time everyone’s on the dancefloor at the end of the night, Mariah Carey is no longer a sing-at-the-top-of-your-lungs Christmas party novelty.

  • BFI Southbank

    Must Do:
Lighting – it’s essential to the get the mood lighting just right, to get your guests into the festive spirit. Candles, gently coloured floor lamps and classy white fairy lights set the tone perfectly.

    Avoid:
Under-inviting guests – nothing kills the mood more than an empty party, so get your numbers right!

  • 15Hatfields

    Must Do:
Have a charitable locally sourced Christmas, break the mould and give something back! You could have a fancy dress up-cycled costume theme, where all outfits must be purchased from a charity shop, total the amount spent for each table and tally up at the end with the amount raised for charity.

  • Park Plaza Hotels

    Must Do:
Tailor make your evening to suit all tastes – From cocktails or beer buckets to bowl food or three course meals.

    Avoid:
Thinking any menu cannot be altered. Ask and we will tailor make a menu to suit your needs.

  • Southbank Centre

    Must Do:
Know your crowd - is food a really important part of the party experience for them, or is it really just something to soak up the booze?!

    Avoid:
Insisting on any sort of seasonal or fancy dress, it's likely to put a lot of people off.
