Tony Garnett: Seeing Red

The BFI are proud to present the most complete selection of Tony Garnett’s work to date and finally to be able to highlight the significance of his extraordinary achievements. In a career that has spanned over 50 years, Garnett remains at the heart of all that is best and most controversial about British television drama, with programmes ranging from Cathy Come Home, Days of Hope and Spongers through to The Cops, Cardiac Arrest and This Life. In the words of former BBC Director General Mark Thompson, he’s ‘Simply the best television drama creator and producer there has been’.

This is part two of the season and will feature an on-stage conversation between Tony Garnett and writer and broadcaster Mark Lawson, plus screenings of Law and Order; Some Must Watch; Blooming Youth; This Life; Prostitute; Cardiac Arrest; The Cops; Handgun; Beautiful Thing and Hostile Waters.
